Dota Map v6.78 Released (Information + Download Link)

Dota has received a major, overhauling treatment to its gameplay with the release of 6.78 for the original Warcraft III map.

Arguably the most significant alteration to Dota since version 6.75 was released last September, 6.78 has been unveiled today, introducing a whole new slew of changes. The most notable of these introductions is the addition of the two new Sentinel, (Radiant, for the Dota 2 crowd), heroes. These include Kaolin, the Earth Spirit, a strength hero who, as his name would suggest, is based around channeling geological essence in his spells. The other new player is Nerif, the Oracle, an intelligence hero, whose abilities double up as buffs and health replenishing effects, as well as high-damage debuffs for enemies.

Aside from significant balance changes made to the overall hero pool, a number of heroes have been given access to Aghanim's Scepter. These heroes include Ancient Apparition, Omniknight and Silencer. In addition, several of the heroes who already had access to Aghanim's Scepter have been given reworks, including Crystal Maiden, Doom Bringer, Enchantress, Lion, Necrolyte, Pandaren Brewmaster and Shadow Shaman. Those who enjoy competitive matches will receive somewhat of a surprise, as Captain's Mode has been reworked, with the ban and pick times having been revised, as well as the ordering being spread between three intervals, rather than two. On a final note of significance, couriers carrying empty bottles will be bogged down, with their movement speed decreased by thirty percent.

According to IceFrog's previous comments, this version is expected to be the last significant update prior to The International 2013, which will take place from the 7th to 11th of August. A parity update is expected to be made to Dota 2 within a week.
